Choose your weapon

Tohu: Hey, Bohu, I saw a meme that equates wearing a mask with carrying a gun

Bohu: Yes, I've seen it, Tohu. "Wearing a mask protects you and others..." Just follow the logic" ...

Tohu: But most masks protect others from you. How does carrying a gun protect others from you?

Bohu: You're right, T-bro. But it works for mouth-breathers who live happily in their logic tight compartments.

Tohu: Well, since ultimately this is about Personal Protection Equipment and standing your ground can I say, "I carry guns to protect myself from people who don't wear masks."

Bohu: Gimme 5, T-bro

"Dexter"

Dexter Morgan (Wikipedia)

Bohu: We are pleased to welcome Dexter Morgan as he "zooms" into our studio today. First, how have you been, and how has this time of isolation been for you?

Dexter: Isolation has never really been a problem for me.

Tohu: Yes, of course. Well Dexter, we are really excited to have you with us on "Dividing by Zero" to give us your take on the rash of brutal murders at the hands ...

Bohu: and knees!

Tohu: ... of police.

Bohu: So, Dexter, you've never been one to put yourself in the spotlight. How is it that we could convince you, so easily, to join us today?

Dexter: I can't say I'm glad to be here, but I really feel the need to clear some things up.

Tohu: Okay. Let's begin with some background. You were adopted into a law enforcement family, right?

Dexter:  If you mean that my father was a cop and my sister was a cop, then yes, that's true.

Tohu: And you worked in law enforcement also?

Dexter: Can you clarify your question?

Bohu: Didn't you work with Miami PD as blood splatter expert?

Dexter: Yes, I was the department's "Blood Spatter Analyst."

Tohu: But it's also now well known that your involvement in "law enforcement" extended far beyond that, didn't it?

Dexter: Yes, it did, but I'm currently retired from all law enforcement activities.

Bohu: And yet, here you are trending in the news again.

Tohu; Yes, the number of deaths directly attributed to police action is the envy of any serial killer

Bohu: And some are now referring to these bad cops as "Dexters."

Dexter: And that's why I'm here today. If I may, I just want to make it clear that my name should not be associated with any of these cheap criminals.

First, I spent 9 books and 8 seasons solving murder cases and cleaning up messes that these idiots couldn't solve. I was an instrument of justice. Whether it was known or unknown, I gave victims and their families closure. Whether it is known or unknown, none of my "clients" will ever cause anyone any kind of pain - ever again. These guys don't understand the first thing about justice. While their kill numbers are impressive, the only things that qualifies them as "serial killers" is that they can be profiled and they target a certain demographic. Beyond that, I knew that Dexter, and they are no Dexter.

Second, I needed to follow a strict code to protect myself from my clients and my co-workers. My actions were never condoned by my colleagues and the only times I came close to putting myself in danger was when I didn't follow the code. These cops are cowards. They operate in full view of the world knowing that they will suffer no consequences for their actions. They hunt in groups, protected by armor and automatic weapons. They operate under multiple layers of protection from their superiors, their unions, and brotherhoods of their co-workers. And yes, there are good cops. My father and sister were good cops. And I know there are others. But in reality they are mostly helpless to stop these killers because they are often mysteriously transferred, or they just give up and quit.

Third, my "clients" were legitimate dangers to society. In their prime, they were cunning and resourceful killers and that alone required me to treat them with a certain amount of respect. But these killer cops take on unarmed and harmless civilians like they're in a battle for their lives when in fact, all they do each time is play a game that's rigged in their favor.

Fourth, what really made me what I am is that I have no soul. I am a psychopath. I was baptized in the blood and body parts of my own mother when I was 2 years old. What excuse do these guys have for being killers? How did they lose their souls? Did someone call them a name when they were a child? Did mommy and daddy spank them once too often? Did some bully steal their lunch money? When they trapped insects as kids, did a bee sting them when they tried to pull its wings off?

That my name would be tarnished in such a way is just a display of ignorance. If I had a soul, I might feel anger, or even rage. But I don't. The only thing I feel is a twinge of emptiness that I haven't felt in years. If I wasn't retired these guys would be in little pieces on the bottom of the ocean.

And lastly, as empty and soulless as I am, even I recognize that Black Lives Matter.

Bohu: Ooookaaay ... thank you, Dexter Morgan, for joining us on "Dividing by Zero."

45

Play Ball!

Bohu: There was a time when sports figures were memorialized by having their numbers retired, or displayed in such a manner that no one would ever forget them.

Tohu: Those numbers will never be used again because no one could ever match their contributions to the game.

Boho: And that's why when the president decrees that the country finally opens up for business and live sports return, every athlete should wear #45 ... for the rest of their careers.

Tohu: BWAAHAHAA!

Bohu and Tohu Look at the Common Good

Bohu: According to propaganda published by the government and updated in 2016 (https://www.nps.gov/articles/rationing-in-wwii.htm "Sacrificing for the Common Good"), Americans during the second world war participated in rationing of everyday items like gasoline, sugar, dairy products, meat, certain fabrics, animal fats and oils. And get this, "Sacrificing certain items during the war became the norm for most Americans."

Tohu: Note how it reads, "most" Americans.

Bohu: Keen eye, Tohu. Let me tell you about the brave minority who refused to participate in rationing and were considered to be the true patriots of the war. They refused to submit to controls imposed by an over-reaching government during a so-called global emergency on the basis that rationing violated their "Constitutional rights."

Bohu: They were considered to be heroes then and are still revered by true patriots to this day.

Tohu: Meanwhile, the vast majority naively swallowed the government line, and like sheep being lead to their own slaughter, gave up their rights and their liberties "... for the common good."

Tohu: Truth.
